The First Lady has received in audience the Ambassador of the United States of America to Burundi

BUJUMBURA June 30th (ABP) – The First Lady of Burundi, Mrs. Angeline Ndayishimiye, received in audience Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the headquarters of the OPDAD-Burundi, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Burundi (USA ), Mrs. Melanie Higgins.

At the end of the audience, Ambassador Higgins said her dialogue with Mrs. Ndayishimiye covered several topics, but largely on nutrition. She recalled that the government of Burundi has a nutrition program in Burundi which benefits from the support of the First Lady of the country and other partners such as the World Food Program (WFP).

The US Ambassador to Burundi wanted to know more about that program and see how her government can support it.

The interview also focused on health. Mrs Higgins said her government is trying to support the health of the people in its program, especially in the fight against AIDS, malaria and family planning.

During that talk, the First Lady of Burundi, who is Chairperson of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OPDAD-Burundi), spoke to her about the program of the Bonne Action Foundation “Umugiraneza” and the program of the OPDAD.
