GITEGA June 29th (ABP) – Burundi Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye, along with his Better Half, took part, on Sunday June 27, 2021, in the elections for members of the provincial office of the CNDD-FDD party in Gitega (central Burundi), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The said elections, which took place in the precincts of the provincial office of the same party, led to the re-election of Mr. Georges Nshimirimana to the position of provincial secretary of the party, with Mr. Jean Claude Manirakiza as deputy. The position of executive secretary went to Mr. Célestin Kabura, and that of the provincial secretary of the women’s league to Mrs. Godefride Hakizimana. The provincial secretary for young people is now occupied by Mr. Amédée Rucaragi. As for Mr. Jean Claude Nduwimana, he was elected to the position of Provincial Secretary of Veterans.

In his speech, the Burundian Head of State congratulated the new staff of the party at the provincial level of Gitega and asked them to exercise their functions with humility to better serve the party’s activists. President Ndayishimiye particularly congratulated the provincial secretary of the party, who was re-elected, for the self-sacrifice he displayed in the conduct of the party during the past term.

The President of the Republic also took the opportunity to provide advice to CNDD-FDD activists across the country. Attendance at work, renouncing corruption, raising public awareness of family planning, dissociating oneself from rapists, patriotism, safeguarding solidarity; these were the subjects on which the Head of State has focused his pieces of advice. He raised the tone by talking about CNDD-FDD activists who will be guilty of corruption, greed for public funds, incompetence and idleness in the exercise of State functions. Instead of those shortcomings, he recommended them to be innovative in their substantive positions, to be complementary and zealous to engage the country more on the path of development.

“Now that all party structures are endowed with leaders, all party activists are expected to tow the rest of the population in the country’s development works,” President Ndayishimiye said, arguing that the provinces which will know a shaky development will see their leaders dismissed.

He also indicated that he plans to promote the electrification of urban centers in all districts of the country.

Previously, the provincial secretary of the re-elected party, Mr. Georges Nshimirimana, had announced his new plans for the party. He said that his efforts will be made more in the execution and monitoring of State projects, the strengthening of collaboration with the administrative officials at all levels, and the rapprochement of his party with other political parties of the country. He promised to invest in giving an overwhelming victory for the party, in his constituency, more than he had done, in the 2025 elections.
