The President of the Republic of Burundi has visited public infrastructure and farming projects

BUBANZA June 4th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, visited on Thursday, June 3, a public infrastructure and farming projects in Bubanza and Mpanda communes (north-west of Burundi), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In Bubanza commune, the Head of State visited the Kajeke irrigation dam, under construction since 2010, but whose construction has not yet been completed. Some of the constraints mentioned are, among others, entrepreneurs who have not honored their commitments, while this dam should irrigate more than 3,500 hectares.

In Mpanda commune in Gahwazi village 1, President Ndayishimiye visited a modern farmer by the name of Astère Ndabadugaritse, who owns an area of ​​6 hectares where he grows mangoes, with a project to build a small mango juice processing industry there. In that same hill of Gahwazi 1, he visited a widow by the name of Rose Sindayihebura. Widowed since 1995, she started raising cows and pigs in 2012 with one cow, but currently has 8 cows and has been able to support the education of her children, the check by ABP revealed.

Regarding the Kajeke irrigation dam, the President of the Republic has promised to set up a commission to verify the inventory of the first project, for the continued construction of the said dam.

For that modern farmer, he asked him to already think about approaching other growers of the mango trees, in order to work in synergy and in a complementary way. He invited him to also think about foreign markets.

As for that widow, the President of the Republic encouraged her and wanted her to move forward in order to be a good reference to others.
