BUJUMBURA May 28th (ABP) – The Minister of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS, Dr Thaddée Ndikumana, received on Wednesday May 26 in the premises of the Central Purchasing of Medicines of Burundi (CAMEBU), a drug donation consisting of anti-malaria kits as well as vacuum cleaners and reagents for COVID-19 patients.

The Minister of Public Health greatly appreciated that donation worth more than one billion Burundi francs, received under the coordination of international organizations. The important part of the fight against malaria will contribute to the medical care of children under five and pregnant women, he said, recalling that malaria remains a public health problem in Burundi.

According to the UNICEF representative in Burundi, malaria is often more serious in pregnant women and children, also justifying the policy of free healthcare offered by the government of Burundi to those groups. abp/dnt
