The Head of State received 9 new ambassadors who came to present their credentials

BUJUMBURA, June 29th (ABP) – Burundi Head of State, Mr Evariste Ndayishimiye, received in audience on Thursday 27 June nine new ambassadors who had come to present him with their credentials.

They were Mrs Lisa Peterson, the new Ambassador of the United States of America to Burundi, based in Bujumbura; Mr Andrew Onalenna, the new Ambassador of Botswana to Burundi, based in Nairobi.

The others who have presented their credentials and are based in Nairobi are Ms Nicol Adamcova, the new Ambassador of the Czech Republic; Mr Savvas Vladimirou, the new Ambassador of Cyprus; and the Ambassador of Mexico, Mr Enrique Javier Ochoa Martinez.

Mrs. Tone Tinnes, based in Dar-Es-Salaam, is Norway’s new Ambassador to Burundi. Mr Mauro Massoni, based in Kampala, is the new Ambassador of Italy to Burundi.

The Head of State also received the credentials of the new ambassadors of Canada and Finland to Burundi. They are Julie Crowley, based in Kigali, and Zitting Maria Theresa, based in Dar-Es-Salaam.

According to Rosine Guilène Gatoni, spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, those audiences with the Head of State were an opportunity for the new ambassadors to convey to him the greetings of the presidents of their respective countries and their desire to strengthen bilateral relations in order to support Burundi’s vision of its emergence in 2040 and its development in 2060.

According to Mrs. Gatoni, they also congratulated the Head of State on Burundi’s development momentum and the role it is playing on the international, sub-regional and regional scene. That, she added, was evident in the efforts made to assist other countries in the various peacekeeping missions in different countries where there was a need.

According to Mrs. Gatoni, those audiences were an opportunity for the Head of State to congratulate the new ambassadors and to reiterate Burundi’s willingness to continue strengthening cooperation in various sectors so that together we can continue on the long road to Burundi’s development.
