The National Patriotism Day has been celebrated

GITEGA, June 11th (ABP) – Burundi’s Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, chaired over ceremonies to celebrate the Country’s National Patriotism Day in Gitega (central Burundi) on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

The ceremonies were attended by the country’s leading figures, including the presidents of the two houses of parliament, the Vice-President of the Republic and the Prime Minister of Burundi.

The ceremonies were organized in two parts. The first took place at the mausoleum of the late President Pierre Nkurunziza, in the Musinzira district. Three wreaths of flowers were laid, first by the Presidential Couple, then by the family of the late President Nkurunziza, followed by representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps accredited to Burundi.

The ceremonies ended with an excerpt from the late President Nkurunziza’s speech. The substance of the speech was an appeal to the Burundian people to safeguard national sovereignty.

The second part of the day was marked by a moralizing session led by the Head of State.

The session was attended by senior executives and decree-appointed officials from all over the country.
