BANCOBU grants food to 100 households affected by recent flooding in the Buterere zone

BUJUMBURA, May 30th (ABP) – The Commercial Bank of Burundi (BANCOBU) on Wednesday, 29 May 2024, granted food to 100 households in the Buterere area, including 31 from the Brothers of the Poor community and 69 households from the surrounding area, who were victims of the recent floods.

The Managing Director of BANCOBU, Mrs. Trinitas Girukwishaka, said that the decision was taken in response to the appeal by the President of the Republic of Burundi to support the victims of the floods in the country.

She said that the kit was worth 43,000,000 BIF and consisted of 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of beans, 2 kg of sugar, 2 blankets, 3 kg of palm oil, six plates, six cups, 10 kg of maize flour, a loincloth, three mosquito nets, two jerry cans and two buckets for each household.

The representative of the administrator of the commune of Ntahangwa, Mrs. Sostine Niyonkuru, warmly thanked BANCOBU for that act of charity and called on other institutions to follow suit.
