BUJUMBURA, May 27th (ABP) – The First Lady of the Republic of Burundi, Mrs Angeline Ndayishimiye, visited the home of Jean Prime Bashirahishize and Nicole Mugisha in Gasekebuye in the urban commune of Muha on Thursday afternoon. The couple gave birth to twins using in vitro fertilisation after more than five years of infertility. That operation was made possible by the “Bonne Action Umugiraneza” foundation, which was initiated by the 1st Lady herself. During the visit, the couple recounted their ordeal during that period of infertility. The couple said that it was a difficult ordeal to overcome as human beings. The couple also thanked the Almighty, who had pointed out that it was time for their names to be changed to mum and dad.

The new parents warmly thanked the 1st Lady for that praiseworthy initiative, which will be of vital importance to the Burundian nation. For her part, the 1st Lady appreciated the patience shown by the couple throughout those difficult times. She also mentioned that at the Umugiraneza polyclinic, treatment for infertility problems is, at least, less expensive than abroad, where patients (couples), apart from the cost of treatment, have to pay for return plane tickets and visas, which are sometimes difficult to obtain.
