BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) – State Councillor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong met Martin Niteretse, Burundi’s Minister of the Interior, Community Development and Public Security, in Beijing on Wednesday.
Mr Wang said that China was ready to work with Burundi to strengthen friendship and mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial and pragmatic cooperation, and enhance security cooperation within the framework of “Belt and Road” cooperation.
The two countries should also work together to combat transnational crime and promote all aspects of law enforcement and security cooperation in order to create a safe and favourable environment for the economic and social development of both countries, according to Mr Wang.
Mr Niteretse said that Burundi was willing to step up exchanges and communication with China and to deepen law enforcement and security cooperation.
