RUMONGE, May 21st (ABP) – The second vice-president of the National Assembly, Mr. Abel Gashatsi, joined on Saturday May 18 the residents of Mwange hill in the Kizuka zone of the Rumonge commune and province (south). western Burundi), in the assembly and transport of bricks for the construction of a maternity block at the Mwange health center.

In his welcoming remarks, the permanent executive secretary of the Rumonge commune, Mr. Erasme Hakizimana, indicated that security is good throughout the commune, except that there are victims of flooding due to the rising waters of the Lake Tanganyika. He thanked the residents of that town for their compassion in welcoming and sheltering the victims of those floods.

The governor of Rumonge province, Mr. Léonard Niyonsaba, in his speech, indicated that community development work is organized every Saturday in all areas of his province. He also positively appreciated the role of local notables in the resolution of social conflicts because, he explained, there are currently few people who come to contact the provincial administration compared to the previous period. For him, it is the fruit of the establishment of that institution.

For his part, the second vice-president of the National Assembly congratulated the inhabitants of Rumonge province, and especially those of Mwange hill, for their punctuality and their presence at the meeting in the development works. The start of community development works has been set at 8:00 a.m., but residents of Mwange Hill begin work at 6:00 a.m. For Mr. Gashatsi, that is an eloquent sign which shows that they have understood the State’s vision of transforming Burundi into an emerging country in 2040 and a developed country in 2060. To achieve that vision, he called on them to vigilance in safeguarding security, given that that locality borders Lake Tanganyika. As long as there are still people who waste their time on ligala, people who consume a lot of alcohol as well as family conflicts, it will be impossible, according to Mr. Gashatsi, to self-develop and develop the country. He therefore advised people like that to change and cut short those bad behaviors in order to follow those who are already on the line of development.
