BUJUMBURA, May 3rd (ABP) – The Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Gélase Daniel Ndabirabe, returned on Monday 29 April 2024 from a working mission in the Republic of Turkey, where he took part in the 5th conference of the Jerusalem Inter-Parliamentary Platform on 26 April 2024.

On his return, he told the press that the aim of the conference was to discuss ways of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to advocate the freedom and independence of Palestine.

The President of the National Assembly pointed out that at the end of that conference, which brought together 1,500 parliamentarians from 76 countries, no conclusion was reached, explaining that parliamentarians alone cannot find a way out of that war. Mr Ndabirabe believes that the heads of state, the representatives of the parties to the conflict: the Palestinians, the Israelis, as well as Hamas and the Al Qassam Brigade, who have combatants in the conflict, must be involved in the search for a lasting solution.

He believes that they must first find a solution that leads to peace so that the Palestinians can return to their homeland.
