BUJUMBURA March 21st (ABP) – The University Agency of the Francophonie (AUF) in Burundi, in collaboration with the Light University of Bujumbura (ULBU) organized, on March 14, 2024 in Bujumbura, a public conference under the theme: “university governance and resource mobilization”. It was as part of the celebration of Francophonie Week which takes place from March 12 to 19, 2024.

In an interview given to the press, the representative of the AUF in Burundi and university professor, Mr. Fulgence Nahayo indicated that that agency has eleven academic members including the ULBU. He indicated that good governance at the university level is based on the provision of quality teaching in all departments to bring out students who are capable in the field of work. He also added that that governance must focus on control variables to promote lessons learned. But he pointed out that there are challenges linked to the lack of certain educational tools which means that those universities cannot develop properly, given that even Burundi is a developing country.

Mr. Nahayo did not forget to emphasize that if universities are well organized, they can also make their contribution to achieve the Government’s vision of an emerging country in 2040, developed countries in 2060. He took advantage of that opportunity to announce that teachers are doing everything possible to train students who honour the country and who are competent in the field of work to join other developed countries.

The representative of the AUF and university professor appealed to the government to give its contribution to train those students, while explaining that a student who has received quality teaching completes his studies with sufficient intellectual capacity.
