The president of the Senate received in audience the ambassador of the European Union to Burundi

GITEGA, November 24th (ABP) – The President of the Burundian Senate, Mr. Emmanuel Sinzohagera received in audience, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, in Gitega (center of the country), the ambassador and head of delegation of the European Union to Burundi, Mrs. Elisabetta Pietrobon who came to pay him a courtesy visit to make contact, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The spokesperson for the president of the Senate, Mr. Ladislas Niyiragira, said that this audience was also an opportunity for the two authorities to rejoice at the normalization of relations between Burundi and the European Union after its rupture in 2015.

That audience was also an opportunity for the two authorities to agree to take advantage of that climate to help each other, by further strengthening those relations which date back a very long time.

Mr. Niyiragira further reported that the President of the Burundian Senate, Mr. Emmanuel Sinzohagera, asked the ambassador of the European Union to Burundi to support the government’s vision of transforming Burundi into an emerging country in 2040 and developed in 2060.

Ambassador Elisabetta Pietrobon promised that the European Union will support that vision and support the Burundian Parliament through various projects as before.

They agreed that they will relaunch those relations by supporting the communal councils, especially during this pre-electoral period of 2025.
