RUMONGE November 6th (ABP) – The governor of Rumonge province, Léonard Niyonsaba, brought together on Thursday, November 2, 2023, managers of banks and microfinance, as part of meetings organized for those responsible for different sectors of life of the province.
The aim of the meeting was to analyze the rate of the people participating in savings and credit services, after removing from circulation and replacing the old 5,000 BIF and 10,000 BIF notes.
After discussing that subject, we noted that the savings rate increased in all banks and microfinance, except the Muhuta Savings and Credit Cooperative (Coopec) where the savings rate fell following the difficulties recorded during withdrawal operations after the campaign to remove old banknotes from circulation.
Thus, the managers of the branches of banks and microfinance institutions operating in Rumonge asked the administration to intensify awareness raising among the people on the importance of saving in authorized institutions.
Governor Niyonsaba promised that he will get involved to increase the savings rate to develop the country.
