The transitional president of the Gabonese Republic paid a visit to Burundi

BUJUMBURA October 23rd (ABP) – The Transitional President of the Gabonese Republic, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Olingui Nguema, paid a working and friendship visit to Burundi on Friday, October 20, 2023.

On his arrival at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport, he was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, Amb. Albert Shingiro, then by the Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye, at the Ntare Rushatsi palace where they spoke face to face.

That distinguished visitor told the Burundian press that the two personalities discussed the mutual appreciation of the fraternal and historical bilateral relations between Burundi and Gabon. They are committed to strengthening them further, he stressed. According to the transitional President of the Gabonese Republic, that interview was an opportunity to discuss the political situation prevailing in Gabon.

Recognizing the enlightened leadership of the President of the Republic of Burundi, a country that is both a member of ECCAS and the African Union Peace and Security Council, the Transitional President of the Gabonese Republic requested the support and accompaniment of the Burundi during Gabon’s transition until free and transparent elections.

The President of the Republic of Burundi Evariste Ndayishimiye promised to support him in that transition while wishing that peace and security be preserved. The President of Gabon thanked the Burundian people for the warm welcome they gave him, specifying that the visit was of great importance.
