The draft decree related to advancement modes and procedures for administrative release was on the agenda of the Cabinet Meeting

GITEGA July 6th (ABP) – Burundi Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye chaired the Cabinet Meeting on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in his presidential palace of Gitega (center of the country).

On the agenda were 16 items, including the draft decree harmonizing the modes of advancement and procedures for administrative release and fictitious career advancement in public institutions with special bylaws, presented by the Minister of Finance, Budget and economic planning. The same minister presented six items, namely a note in connection with the invitation of the Republic of Burundi to join the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), the draft memorandum of understanding between the government of Burundi and MASTACARD ASIA/PACIFIC PTE. LTD, the draft ordinance amending joint ordinance N°120/121/01/2018 of April 23, 2018 on the terms and conditions for granting mission orders and setting the scale of official missions and the draft ordinance on implementation of article 36 of law N°1/16 of June 28, 2023, setting the general budget of the Republic of Burundi, for the financial year 2023/2024. The Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning also presented the draft ordinance implementing Article 42 of Law N° 1/16 of June 28, 2023 establishing the general budget of the Republic of Burundi for the 2023/2024 financial year and the budget commitment ceilings for the first quarter of 2023/2024.

As for the services of the Presidency of the Republic of Burundi, they presented the national strategy for development cooperation.

In turn, the Minister of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism presented the draft joint ministerial ordinance amending joint ministerial ordinance N° 720/540/1054 of June 6, 2019, relating to the setting of the methods of implementation of the project of modernization of the services of automobile technical control and the granting of the transport permits as well as the draft memorandum of understanding between the government of Burundi and the company Fly Burundi.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, presented the bill on the ratification by the Government of the Republic of Burundi of the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Burundi and the Government of the Republic of the Maldives on visa exemption for nationals of the two respective countries.

The Minister of National Defense and Veterans, for his part, highlighted two communications, in particular that of the bill on the ratification of the military and technical cooperation agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Burundi, as well as that of the draft joint ministerial ordinance on the terms and conditions of application of decree n° 100/ 261 of November 18, 2021, on the bylaw of former fighters.

The last two items were presented by the Minister of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines. One concerned a note relating to the win-win principle on the artisanal production of 3 Ts ores (Wolframite, Cassiterite and Colombo-Tantalite) and the note concerning the additional deadlines for the international call for applications for the demonstration of interests for the recruitment of a company or a consortium of mining companies, with a view to the exploitation of the nickel of Musongati and associated minerals.
