GITEGA January 24th (ABP) – The ruling party CNDD-FDD proceeded, in the afternoon of Saturday January 21, 2023, in Gitega (Center of the country), to the closing of the interfaith thanksgiving prayer, which lasted three days.
In a teaching session, the Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, invited the leaders who embezzled public funds to pull themselves together in order to pay the embezzled funds to the account numbers opened at the BRB. These are accounts n° 1110/334 for BIF, 3302/021.62 for currencies in dollars and 3320/831 for currencies in Euro. He informed the public that the one who will make the payment, is asked to send him a message, so that he is removed from the list of those who have hindered the development of the country.
President Ndayishimiye has said he hopes some leaders will heed this call and give back to the government of Burundi what they embezzled. He hopes that the embezzled money, once returned, will be used for the construction of a large building of at least 50 levels, with the aim of serving as a model for those who continue to plunder the public treasury.
According to the Head of State, to restore the image of the political capital of Gitega, the government of Burundi, will also build at the Gitega airfield, 30 buildings of more than 10 floors each and a building of at least 13 levels at this place, which would house the High Court of Gitega.
Note that on the sidelines of the closing of that prayer, the President of the Republic of Burundi prayed for the party and the leaders. At the end of the prayer, a contribution of 166,247,700 BIF was paid by CNDD-FDD party activists and friends of the party, to finalize the temple of God “Igicaniro”.
