BUJUMBURA July 5th (ABP) – The Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Daniel Gélase Ndabirabe, returned to the country on Sunday, July 3, 2022, from Baku in the Republic of Azerbaijan, where he had participated in a two-day conference of the parliamentary network of the 120 non-aligned movement States.

In a press interview right after he got off the plane, Mr. Ndabirabe said that during the conference, they were able to update the bylaws governing that non-aligned movement and a joint statement which amounted to a commitment by each parliament to be able to decide to strengthen that movement.

The Speaker of the National Assembly indicated that it was also a good opportunity to elect new three deputy chairpersons of the network. He added that the chairmanship of that new representation will be ensured by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan who has been reappointed, while the replacement will be attached to the three members from Palestine, Libya and Venezuela, said Mr. Ndabirabe. That office of the network, he continued to say, was set up in a consensual manner and it is countries with problems that are brought to the fore for their problems to be discussed, he pointed out.

Mr. Ndabirabe further indicated that there will also be the creation of “Network” friendship groups, which will make it possible to weave a star of friendship between all the member States of that movement.
