GITEGA March 29th (ABP) – The CNDD-FDD party celebrated on Saturday, March 26 at the Ingoma Stadium in Gitega, the first edition of the national day dedicated to women activists of that party called “Umukenyererarugamba Day”, under the theme: “Bakenyererarugamba, let us contribute effectively in the fight against poverty for the pride and honor of our country”. That is part of the celebration of International Women’s Day.

The chairperson of the “Bakenyererarugamba” Women’s League of the CNDD-FDD party at the national level, Mrs. Marie Goreth Yamuremye, in her speech, expressed her joy for the success of the holding of that day, which has just entered the annals of the party’s history, like ImbonerukureDay.

According to Yamuremye, the holding of that day is an eloquent sign that testifies that women are capable. Hence, their representation in the institutions of 30%, should not be the ceiling, because they are numerically in the majority, she explained.

She also indicated that those women are contributing to the implementation of the national development plan by multiplying certain seeds including cocoyams, “Inumpu” and “Amatugu” to reduce famine in the country. Mrs. Yamuremye urged women to remain calm and be good pillars of their homes.

The Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party, Mr. Réverien Ndikuriyo recalled the role played by women during the struggle to restore democracy, before asking the crowd present at the scene to observe a minute of silence. in memory of those heroines.

Mr. Ndikuriyo pointed out that women are the pillar of development in the country and the family in particular. And to add that women have a great role to play in protecting our morals and the education of children.

In relation to the representation of women in institutions, Mr. Ndikuriyo pointed out that little by little, they can, that everything will be fine. He pointed out that soon there will be women among the provincial secretaries of the party.
