More than 2000 bamboos have been planted on the banks of the Nyabagere river

BUJUMBURA March 18th (ABP) – The administrative staff from the local to the top and the people of Ntahangwa commune proceeded on Thursday, March 17, 2022, to the planting of more than 2000 bamboos on the banks of the Nyabagere river (part of the Gihosha zone), as part of the “Ewe Burundi Urambaye” project.

The administrator of Ntahangwa commune, Mr. Ernest Niyonzima, said that during this work, the observation was that the population who is close to this river continues to throw household waste there or make waste dumps. around this river. He also pointed out people who continue to raise cattle or make bricks there.

For all those reasons, he launched a vibrant call banning this kind of activity, arguing that the protection of the environment concerns everyone. He expressed his thanks to the Burundian Office for the Protection of the Environment (OBPE) for the granting of bamboo plants for the people of Ntahangwa commune.
