The Rumonge province hosts the celebration ceremonies for International Women’s Day

BUJUMBURA March 8th (ABP) – The Minister of National Solidarity, Social Affairs, Human Rights and Gender, Mrs. lmelde Sabushimike released, Monday, March 7, 2022, a statement on the celebration of the day International Women’s Day under the theme “women at the center of agricultural development and environmental protection”, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The Minister in charge of national solidarity indicated that Burundi joins other countries around the world in celebrating March 8 of each year, the day dedicated to women.

She said that this is an opportunity for governments and their partners to assess the step already taken in relation to the progress of women’s rights at the economic, political and socio-cultural level. She further pointed out that it is also an opportunity to set new directions and priorities to achieve more results in the protection and defense of women’s rights.

In addition, she added, for women, this day is also an opportunity for evaluation in relation to their role as pillars of sustainable development of their families and their country.

According to her, the theme of this day challenges women to redouble their efforts to occupy a leading place in agricultural development and environmental protection.

Indeed, the agricultural sector employs more women, cannot develop when the contribution of women is not very remarkable, she said.

Mrs. Nsabushimike specified that the ceremonies of that day will take place in Rumonge province on March 8, 2022. She invited the Burundians in general that of Rumonge in particular to respond massively to this great day.
