Young people are called on to be job creators rather than job seekers

BUJUMBURA February 1st (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, hosted on Saturday January 29, 2022 at the Kamenge Youth Center, a moralization session for young members of the said center. That activity was organized by the Burundi Youth Economic Empowerment and Employment Program (PAEEJ-Burundi), we noted on the spot.

Mr. Ndayishimiye, in his speech challenged the young members of the Kamenge youth center to contribute to the development of the country and initiate income-generating projects, adding that his commitment is to support all their initiative that can increase the economy of Burundi.

On the same occasion, the Head of State said that Burundi must put agriculture and livestock at the center of development like other countries including China, Israel, to export the excess production and thus gain access to foreign markets, he insisted.

In his presentation, the coordinator of PAEEJ, Mr. Désiré Manirakiza pointed out that the goal of PAEEJ is to reduce the youth unemployment rate by raising awareness on changing mentalities and building capacities, supporting entrepreneurship and socio-professional integration.

By the change of mentality, Mr. Manirakiza meant that the country’s youth economic empowerment and employment program tries to explain to all young people, to study not to be a job seeker, but rather to be a job creator.

Regarding youth entrepreneurship, he continued, the PAEEJ organizes competitions for young entrepreneurs and provides financial support for the best business projects, reassured Mr. Manirakiza.

In all, the young entrepreneurs had the time to testify and share with others the success and the challenges encountered in their entrepreneurial journey, in particular Mrs. Sonia Izere, who received a donation from the Head of State during the 5th Edition of the National Youth Conference and who now owns a chicken farming business.

In his welcoming address, Father Alphonse Ndabiseruye thanked the President of the Republic of Burundi for his unconditional commitment to instilling in young people the values ​​and bases of an enlightened patriotism, in order to make all young people actors in a radical and positive change.

It should be recalled that during this session of moralization, the Head of State promised the establishment of a commission responsible for controlling all the contributions of teachers in their unions.
