KAYANZA November 3rd (ABP) – The Catholic Christians from Kayanza province (northern Burundi) joined those from around the world on Monday November 1 to celebrate the feast of All Saints.

At the Rwegura parish of the diocese of Ngozi, more precisely at the branch of Munanira, it was an opportunity to inaugurate the church of that branch. The ceremonies were enhanced by the presence of the bishop of the diocese of Ngozi, Mgr Georges Bizimana, in the presence of the Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Mr. Déo Guide Rurema, native of the said parish, the governor of Kayanza and other natives of Rwegura parish.

That Munanira branch was established in 1943, but it had not built a decent church until today.

Based on the scriptures relating to the feast of All Saints, Bishop Georges Bizimana indicated that eternal life is not to be found in the race for political office. Nor is it found in riches or in the luxurious life, rather it is found in the search for God, he explained.

Regarding the inaugural ceremonies of the branch church of Rwegura, the bishop of the diocese of Ngozi praised the achievements of Christians around this branch. He also rejoiced at the bravery they showed to build such a beautiful and large church. Bishop Bizimana thus called on the Christians of the Munanira branch to continue on the same path.

Speaking in turn, the governor of Kayanza, Colonel Rémy Cishahayo congratulated the Catholic Church in general and the diocese of Ngozi in particular for its various contributions oriented in different sectors. As a thank you, he promised to grant 50 sheets to the Rwegura parish which is in the process of building a meeting room.

The Minister in charge of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Mr. Déo Guide Rurema, he promised to give a heifer to the Catholic bishop of Ngozi, while the Christians of the Munanira branch have, as for them, promised to give him seeds of potato of the Kijumbu variety.
