The First Ladies of Burundi and Niger have paid a visit to the Afritextile, FOMI and Kaze Green Economy factories

BUJUMBURA October 22nd (ABP) – The First Lady of Burundi, Angéline Ndayishimiye along with the First Lady of Niger, Hadiza Bazoum, paid a visit to three industrial structures on Wednesday, October 20. The first visit was made to the Afritextile factory in Bujumbura. The First two Ladies began their visit to the spinning workshop, going section by section from the entry of the raw cotton: the threshing, profiling, carding, fine yarn, etiling, winding and encoding sections. After spinning, they continued to the weaving, printing and painting, and finishing workshops. The second visit was made to the “Kaze Green Economy” plant, a plant for transforming biodegradable waste into two products: KABIOF (Kaze Bio Fuel) Makara and KABIOF Rukwi. Two fuel products which are sold on the market at the rate of 500 francs per kg.

The First Lady of Burundi and that of Niger closed their visit to the organo-mineral fertilizers industries (FOMI) production plant. The FOMI factory was established in 2019 and has produced around 500 tons of fertilizers, of three types of organo-minerals per day, since 2020. It currently has around 3,000 employees and plans to expand its operations in Tanzania.
