BUJUMBURA October 11th (ABP) – The 8th edition of the Burundi Red Cross National

Youth Forum began on Friday October 8, 2021 in the premises of the Red Cross training center based in Ngagara in Bujumbura City Council, under the theme “Towards the consolidation of village units”, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

Representatives of young volunteers at the communal and provincial level met at that center to discuss and assess their responsibilities towards the most vulnerable in the community as young volunteers.

During an interview, the leader of the Red Cross in Burundi, Mr. Pamphile Kantabazi, indicated that the young people of the Red Cross do activities in their neighborhoods or villages, including first aid to the sick, identifying with members of the community the most vulnerable people and organize assistance actions for those vulnerable people of the village.

To this end, he added, other specific activities concern in particular the training of young people in advanced level (secondary school) by forming international humanitarian law (IHL) clubs with a view to teaching others in the various schools the importance of the Red Cross in Burundi.

The number of young Red Cross volunteers in Burundi is 600,000, he said. He took the opportunity to advise those young people who represented others in that forum, to continue to do good to neighboring vulnerable people and to sensitize others on the activities of the Burundi Red Cross.

In that forum, the young people took the opportunity to choose a new representative who will lead them for the new edition, Mrs. Nice Ingabire who replaced Marlène Iradukunda.
