The different actors involved in agricultural finance have been trained

KAYANZA September 27th (ABP) – Since Wednesday September 22, 2021, the Ministry of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock has organized a training workshop for different actors involved in agricultural financing in from all the provinces of the country and to those in charge of banks and micro-finance savings and loans, a check on the site by ABP has revealed

That workshop held in the headquarters of Kayanza province (northern Burundi) was part of a discussion on the modalities of access to mortgage guarantee for farmers and other people operating in the agro-pastoral sector to benefit loans from banks that can enable their projects to be implemented.

The responsible for agricultural and environmental planning of the fertilization component at the Ministry in charge of Agriculture indicated that the Burundian government has set up a Guarantee and Support Impulse Fund (FIGA) which will soon allow farmers to ” easy access to loans.

According to that agricultural planning officer, FIGA will provide a direct response to farmers who had difficulty obtaining agricultural guarantees because, he said, the farming profession was a victim of climatic hazards while the sector banker was a little cautious to fund this sector. That is how the government of Burundi has decided to vouch so that farmers can have access to credit, he explained, adding that this system will allow a large number of farmers to access it easily, especially since the interest rate will not exceed 7%.
