Kayanza school province faces many challenges

KAYANZA September 14th (ABP) – The cabinet of the governor of Kayanza province (northern Burundi), in collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of Education, organized on Friday September 11 an evaluation meeting of the past school year and preparations for the start of the school year, 2021-2022 edition, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

During this meeting organized for all provincial and communal stakeholders in education and permanent executive secretaries of the communes, the Provincial Director of Education in Kayanza, Mr. Désiré Hatungimana, indicated that the preparations of this new school year are in good shape.

He, however, indicated that the school province of Kayanza faces the insufficiency of desks, which is why four students and more will share a

same desk bench. He also mentioned the crying shortage of teaching staff and suggested that the communes make use of volunteer teachers.

For his part, the adviser to the governor of Kayanza in charge of development, Mr. Venuste Nduwimana, considered all these challenges worrying. He thus asked municipalities and natives to look into it with a view to securing prime places in national competitions and exams.

Regarding the course of the past school year, the provincial director of education said he was satisfied with the 5th place that this province occupied in the national competition of the 9th, 2021 edition. attitude of some teachers who sexually abuse their students. He did not fail to point out that the resurgence of cases of school dropouts remains a problem facing the school province of Kayanza.
