The President of the Republic of Burundi has received in audience the Japanese Ambassador to Burundi

BUJUMBURA September 10th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye received in audience Thursday, September 9, 2021 in Bujumbura, the Japanese Ambassador to Burundi, Mr. Masahiro IMAI.

As the spokesperson for the President of the Republic, Mrs. Evelyne Butoyi, told the media, the two personalities discussed the cooperation and the good relations that exist between the two countries.

They also exchanged views on their sectors of cooperation, particularly in the agriculture, livestock, transport and education sector.

The Japanese Ambassador to Burundi said he came to Burundi to inaugurate the start of work aimed at modernizing the port of Bujumbura.

He added that this project is funded by the government of Japan. He also said that they agreed during their meeting that the government of Japan is committed to contributing to the continued development of economic growth in Burundi.

He further specified that the amount of funding amounts to around 31 million US dollars and the duration of the work is estimated at less than two years from the day of the inauguration of the works, he insisted.
