NGOZI July 31st (ABP) – The Minister of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS, Dr Thaddée Ndikumana, visited the Kiremba district hospital on Thursday, July 29 to assess the state of the Covid-19 hospitalized patients and those quarantined in their households.

Minister Ndikumana praised the state of health of some twenty patients bedridden in that hospital; a condition which is not serious, according to the minister.

He encouraged them and asked them to stay strong and not to be discouraged because, once a disease has broken out, it only remains to fight against it, he insisted.

Even if the figures had recently risen in the locality of Kiremba, the minister was delighted with the fact that the positive tests are decreasing. They are currently estimated at 5%. Serious cases are followed up in hospital while non-serious positive cases are followed up at home.

Minister Ndikumana took the opportunity to thank the administration which worked well with the health authorities in the fight against the proliferation of cases. He also addressed, on behalf of the government of Burundi, his gratitude for the health workers who follow up the non-serious positive cases and sensitize the households of that locality for testing.

The Minister of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS has firmly asked the Burundians in general and the people of that locality in particular to scrupulously follow the barrier measures taken by the government of Burundi in order to prevent and fight against Covid-19.

Recall that many cases of Covid-19 have been identified in recent days in the locality of Kiremba.
