The Head of State of Burundi has received in audience the representative of the EU in Burundi and the Ambassador of the United States to Burundi

BUJUMBURA June 22nd (ABP) – The Head of State of Burundi, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, received in audience on Monday, June 21, 2021, in the Ntare Rushatsi House, the representative of the European Union (EU) in Burundi, Claude Bochu, and the Ambassador of the United States (USA) to Burundi, Mrs. Mélanie H. Higgins.

Regarding the subjects discussed during that audience, Mrs. Evelyne Butoyi, spokesperson for the President, said that Mr. Bochu had come to inform the President of the Republic of Burundi of the decision to revoke article 96 suspending financial cooperation in Burundi.

They spoke on the various points including relations between Burundi and the EU and on the development sector in order to support the “responsible” and “hard-working” government, “Reta Mvyeyi, Reta Nkozi”, Mrs. Butoyi reported.

After that audience, the Head of State of Burundi also granted the audience to Mrs. Mélanie H. Higgins, the Ambassador of the United States (USA) to Burundi, who, according to the President’s spokesperson, was coming to give the President of the Republic of Burundi a letter sent by his American counterpart to express his wishes for the celebration of the Independence Day of Burundi.

She continued to say their conversations also focused on strengthening the top priorities of the two governments such as good health and tackling unemployment.
