BUJUMBURA June 20th (ABP) – The 4 teams qualified for the semi-finals phase of the cup dedicated to President Nkurunziza, “Nkurunziza Cup”, played the first leg on Thursday June 17. Thus, Messager Ngozi defeated, Musongati Fc from Gitega at their pitch 1-0. As for Aigle Noir from Makamba, the team lost at their pitch to Flambeau du Centre from Gitega 1-2.
On the sidelines of the preparation for the Cup of the National Football Associations of East and Central Africa under 23 (CECAFA U 23), national coach Jimmy Ndayizeye has called 29 players, playing in the 1st division to the Primus League. Among the selected players, 5 are from Messager Ngozi, 5 from Kayanza United, 5 from Musongati Fc from Gitega.
Among the teams of Aigle Noir from Makamba and Flambeau du Centre, the coach of the national team Intamba mu rugamba has selected 4 players per team. Athletico Academy team provided 3 players. The teams of Inter Star, Rukinzo Fc of the National Police of Burundi and Royal Fc from Muramvya each provided 1 player.
The CECAFA U 23 competition is scheduled to take place in Ethiopia in July 2021.
