The mother-child health week campaign has started

BURURI June 17th (ABP) – The three-day vaccination campaign started on Wednesday in Bururi province (south-western Burundi). During the campaign, the planned activities are deworming with albendazole for children aged between 1 and 14 and pregnant women in the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy. These will also have soap. Children aged 6 to 59 months will be supplemented with vitamin A.

On the first day, the people did not respond in large numbers while the campaign will last only three days. The provincial doctor, Dr Vénérand Nyambikiye, called on the administration, community health workers and religious denominations to double their efforts to sensitize the people affected by the campaign.

In Bururi province, 195,733 children aged 1 to 14 will be dewormed with albendazole, 13,873 pregnant women in the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy will also be dewormed and 76,810 children aged 6 to 59 months will be replaced with vitamin A.
