Women called upon to get into the habit of approaching microfinance for the implementation of their projects

BUBANZA, August 7th (ABP) – Women are called upon to join cooperatives and get into the habit of approaching microfinance for the implementation of their projects. That appeal was made to them on Monday, during a meeting, which was organized by the ministry responsible for gender, on information relating to access to loans.

In the province of Bubanza, women’s cooperatives, already registered with the Provincial Office of the Cooperative and Associative Movement, number 120. Among the latter, out of 48 who have already presented their projects to the Women’s Investment and Development Bank (BIDF), 45 have already benefited from loans for the implementation of their projects.

In that meeting, the Minister responsible for gender, Mrs. Imelde Sabushimike, commended the step already taken by women in development.

Referring to the data from the 2008 census, she said that women were more than 50% and 85% of them were farmers. To say that, she explained, the effective involvement of women in development can lead to the development of households, the country and the achievement of the vision of Burundi Emerging in 2040 and Developed Country in 2060, a check by ABP revealed.

Minister Sabushimike invited women to take advantage of the State’s efforts in their favor, by getting into the habit of approaching microfinance that the State has set up such as BIDF, BIJE and others. She asks microfinance to facilitate those who request them. Note that Minister Sabushimike was accompanied by microfinance officials, BIDF, BIJE, CECM and Dukuze Microfinance, to enable the population to have more information on access to loans and benefits.
