GITEGA, July 31st (ABP) – The President of the Republic, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, in the company of the First Lady Angeline Ndayishimiye, continued on Saturday July 27, 2024 the Inkebuzo Caravan in Gitega province (Center of the country), a check on-the-spot by ABP has revealed.
President Ndayishimiye began his visit to Gishubi District where he visited a Shazuberwe sewing workshop supported by the Economic Empowerment and Youth Employment Program in Burundi (PAEEJ), at the headquarters of Gishubi District.
The president then joined the young people gathered in a work camp for the work of drawing contour lines on Ruhande hill in the same district to protect arable land. He called on students to continue their studies not to seek employment in the future, but rather to put into practice what they have learned.
He called on teachers to serve as role models by putting into practice what they teach, because it is surprising that a teacher of Entrepreneurship or Agriculture does not have livestock or a field to serve as a model, he explained.
The president called on Burundian youth to work diligently and to undertake to contribute to the national vision of 2040 and 2060.
The presidential couple continued their visit to Ryansoro District where they visited the national zootechnical research station of Mahwa, specialized in the multiplication of improved breeds of cattle.
In Buraza District, the president visited a district official who raises rabbits on Buraza village. The caravan continued in Makebuko District where the President visited an East African Drilling and Granite company to inquire about the progress of the construction work on the buildings of the project to transform inert rocks into marble tiles, ornamental stone and derived products in Mwaro-Ngundu village.
After Makebuko District, President Ndayishimiye went to Itaba District where he inaugurated the Izere District hospital. He congratulated the population of that District for having started the implementation of an emerging Burundi. He also inaugurated a hotel complex called Jerusalem belonging to a young entrepreneur Gateka Perry Saxe a.k.a. Gasape in the Nyabiharage district of the city of Gitega.
Note that the Inkebuzo caravan was closed at the Ingoma Stadium in Gitega where the President of the Republic, accompanied by the First Lady, watched a match between Musongati FC and Flambeau du Centre. The match ended with a score of two goals to one, in favor of Musongati. The winning team received an improved cow, a cup, an envelope of 6 million and five balls while the losing team received an envelope of five million and five balls.
