Celebration of the community solidarity day in Bujumbura city

BUJUMBURA, July 31st (ABP) – The Red Cross in Bujumbura city distributed 1,112 tons of beans, 780 kg of rice, 203 kg of soap, 647 kg of corn flour, clothes and shoes to 109 most vulnerable people in Bujumbura city, Mr. Elias Sentamba, head of the Red Cross in Bujumbura city, told reporters during a press briefing he hosted on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

The Red Cross organized this activity as part of the celebration of the community solidarity day under the theme: “Youth in action, a guarantee of the sustainability of solidarity”.

At the end of this day, 1087 young people on vacation were trained on the idea of ​​solidarity in order to help them avoid bad habits and acquire different skills, he said, specifying that this day was organized at a time when the Red Cross is providing training to 13 members of the committee responsible for disaster prevention in the different neighborhoods of the city of Bujumbura.

On that occasion, Mr. Sentamba thanked those who do everything to make this aid available and asked them to always keep a charitable heart. He also called on the vulnerable who received assistance to think about creating small projects for self-development.
