MURAMVYA, July 28th (ABP) – On the second day of his parliamentary recess in Muramvya province, National Assembly second deputy speaker Abel Gashatsi joined, Thursday, July 25, 2024, students on vacation from the Mushikamo County in Rutegama District, in the work consisting in cleaning and drawing contour lines on Nkonyovu hill.
In his speech, the second deputy speaker of the national assembly called on the inhabitants of that locality to protect arable land while planting anti-erosion hedges on all steep hills. Mr. Gashatsi also asked them to give their all to initiate self-development projects in the logic of Burundi emerging in 2040 and developed in 2060.
As for the students on vacation, MP Gashatsi invites them to avoid idleness since they are considered as the driving forces of Burundi. They must then go about income-generating activities by teaming up in small livestock breeding cooperatives, he exemplified.
That elected representative of the people took the opportunity to sensitize the population to prepare for the general census of the population, housing, agriculture and livestock which will begin in August and to welcome the census takers without forgetting to answer the questions they will be asked.
