CANKUZO, July 4th (ABP) – The chief of staff of the governor of Cankuzo province (eastern Burundi), Pierre Claver Nakumuryango, has called on parents to ensure that their children are educated.
The appeal was made last week in the commune of Cendajuru during the celebration of the International Day of the African Child, which was organized with the support of partners including AVSI, ABP was told.
Mr Nakumuryango congratulated the children on their excellent school results. He took the opportunity to urge parents to give them a quality education so that they can be better prepared for their future and be useful to the country.
As for the children, he urged them to listen and follow the advice of their parents and superiors.
Given that Burundi has already set itself the vision of becoming an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cankuzo urged the population to manage the harvest well.
Three children who excelled in the 2023-2024 school year were awarded prizes.
One of those children, Miss Divine Manirakiza, said that in order to be first in class, she follows the teachers closely and asks for explanations of all the lessons and exercises that seem difficult.
