Announcement of the 2nd edition of the Burundi-European Union Caravan

BUJUMBURA, July 2nd (ABP) – The European Union Ambassador to Burundi, Elisabetta Pietrobon, held a press conference in Bujumbura on Thursday 27 June to announce the second edition of the Burundi-European Union Caravan, which will take place from 8 to 12 July 2024.

Six provinces, namely Bururi, Gitega, Kayanza, Muramvya, Mwaro and Bujumbura City will be involved in this caravan, she said, explaining that the caravan is an initiative of the European Union, in training with Team Europe (European Union and its Member States that have embassies in Burundi).

According to Ms Pietrobon, the caravan will be a colourful event with a number of dynamic activities, including awareness-raising activities and opportunities for enriching dialogue with the local population. According to Ms Pietrobon, issues such as malnutrition and free access to health care for pregnant women and children under five will be raised during the event. The issue of combating violence against women and girls and gender-based violence in general will also be addressed. Other issues such as sexual and reproductive health and sport will be addressed during the caravan.
