The Head of State calls on the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture to give body and soul for the well-being of the people

CANKUZO, May 21st (ABP) – The President of the Republic, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye calls on officials of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock to work hard for the well-being of the population. That call was made to them, during a self-assessment meeting held for them, with a view to having the same vision of development.

The Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Mr. Prosper Dodiko, indicated during that meeting that the corn harvest was good but that around 10% of bean fields will be less productive following the early start of the rains for that growing season B.

Regarding the collection of the corn harvest, Minister Dodiko said that the National Agency for Food Security Stock Management (ANAGESSA) has already collected 33,000 tons of grains but that there are 30,000 tons remaining. still collected.

He took the opportunity to announce that the cultivation of local corn should be promoted, alongside hybrid corn, given that it is sufficiently profitable if it is well fertilized.

For growing season C, Minister Dodiko reported that FOMI fertilizers are already available.

Regarding the pooling of fields, he indicated that that decision yields good results due to the fact that all farmers cultivate and apply fertilizers simultaneously, testified the minister in charge of agriculture. He also indicated that agronomists will soon be equipped with smartphones with the help of IFAD in order to update all the necessary data.

Speaking, President Ndayishimiye said he was satisfied with the step taken in the agricultural field, recalling that his objective is the development of households and the country.

Indeed, to achieve that, administrative and agricultural officials must make the population much more aware of the fertilization of crops and the cleaning of contour lines, emphasizing that everyone must get involved. He called on all intellectuals to serve as models.

The head of state did not fail to call on them to irrigate crops to cope with the drought. He asked ANAGESSA officials to ensure the good management and conservation of the collected corn harvest, in order to avoid losses.

Regarding rabbit farming, Mr. Ndayishimiye encouraged the population to become more involved in its development and the creation of rabbit processing units.

Finally, he recommended that leaders change their mentality and work for the well-being of the people, avoiding corruption.
