MAKAMBA August 24th (ABP) – The Economic Empowerment and Youth Employment Program (PAEEJ) organized, on Wednesday August 23, 2023, an awareness session on its activities, for students of the Great Lakes University (UGL), Makamba campus, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The officer in charge of agro-pastoral training at PAEEJ, Mr. Serges Bigirimana, indicated that the program has three components, namely professional supervision in agro-pastoral training, management of cooperatives and job-creating professions, youth entrepreneurship and employability as well as administration and finance. He noted that the selection is for innovative, profitable and scalable projects.

He asked the students to visit the PAEEJ website (www.paeej-burundi.org), to withdraw a funding application form in order to complete it and submit it each time the window is open. He added that those projects must be in processing or production sectors.

The academic secretary of the UGL, Mr. Eric Nkurunziza, indicated that in each sector, the academic curriculum contains the entrepreneurship course to instill in students ways of creating jobs, and offers financial assistance to student entrepreneurship groups.

Thus, the administrator of Makamba commune, Zuena Irakiza, called on young people to team up in associations or cooperative and to set up projects to request funding from authorized entities such as PAEEJ, the youth investment bank and women’s investment bank.

The students showed their feelings of satisfaction, asking, however, that the PAEEJ do everything to accelerate the process of granting funding to young people.
