The Prime Minister has received in audience the regional coordinator of the International Finance Corporation

BUJUMBURA June 3rd (ABP) – Burundi Prime Minister Gervais Ndirakobuca received in audience on Tuesday, May 31, 2023, the regional coordinator of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Malick Fall.

At the end of the dialogue between the two authorities, Mr. Fall told the press that the dialogue with the Burundi Prime Minister focused on the progress of the IFC’s program for the development of the private sector in Burundi.

In addition, he continued to say, his first meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Burundi took place in September 2022 following the publication of the report on private sector development that the IFC had carried out with the World Bank.

Mr. Malick Fall also specified that the IFC plans to work on a certain number of topics, in particular access to bank financing and the latter will lend more and better to investors in order to create jobs. It was also a good opportunity to inform him that the IFC has seen quite significant progress in the private sector.

He further indicated that the IFC makes itself available to discuss priority issues for the government of Burundi. Its commitment is to support the development of private sector investment in agricultural value chains because it is a sector with a strong impact on the country’s economy, particularly in job creation and food security, the coordinator regional office of the International Finance Corporation insisted.
