GITEGA May 24th (ABP) – The Burundi Revenue Authority (OBR) proceeded on Saturday May 20, 2023 in Gitega (central part of the country), to the closing of activities related to the competition of students, members of school clubs “Friends of the Taxman”, in its education and awareness program on tax citizenship in schools, a check by ABP revealed.
The Lycée Clarté Notre Dame de Vugizo of the Bujumbura City Council was the champion team of that competition by defeating the school of excellence of Makamba.
The winning team of that competition received a flat screen television and a sum of 500,000 BIF. The Makamba School of Excellence received an envelope of 1,000,000 BIF. The Musinzira School of Excellence was third and received an envelope of 700,000 BIF while the Sainte Famille of Kanyinya High School was fourth with 500,000 BIF.
The Deputy Commissioner General of the OBR, Mr. Léopold Kabura, who attended the final, congratulated the Champion Club and encouraged all stakeholders to support the tax education program, which the OBR hopes will be integrated into the school and academic programs in Burundi.
The ceremonies marking that competition were marked by songs, poems, slams and the competition which was based on quiz questions drawn from the material contained in different modules taught in that club.
