The President of the Republic opened the academic year at the Higher Police Institute (ISP)

BUBANZA April 30th  (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, enhanced with his presence, on Friday April 28, the ceremonies of the final incorporation of the officer candidates of the 7th promotion and the opening of the academic year 2022-2023, at the Higher Institute of Police (ISP), located in Mitakataka, in Bubanza commune (North-West of Burundi).

The Director of this Institute, Lt-Col Pol Richard Ndayizigamiye, indicated that the ISP provides the winners with initial, academic and advanced training.

The officer candidates who have been incorporated are 62 in number, including 6 girls and 2 chaplains. He asked for the support of the high authorities in the extension of the infrastructures of this Institute which currently hosts 289 students, while its capacity is 60 people. He also pointed out that this institute has a breeding project for various domestic animals. It also provides for the opening of master’s training.

In his speech, President Ndayishimiye invited these officer candidates, incorporated, to prepare accordingly to serve the nation, to the point of sacrificing themselves, if necessary, for the preservation of peace and security. He informed them that they will be called upon to render justice and to protect the inhabitants and their property. He warned OPJs who misbehave by imprisoning people abusively, by engaging in corruption, that they will be punished in accordance with the law.

To the Burundians, he called on them for good collaboration with the forces of order, in favor of security, to overcome laziness and to enjoy the peace regained by the increase in production.

President Ndayishimiye also asked them to be characterized by a patriotic spirit, respect for the law and authorities, human rights, good management and good maintenance of public affairs.
