NGOZI April 30th   (ABP) – The Medical Director of the Ngozi Autonomous Hospital, Dr. Guillaume Ntawukuriryayo, urges victims of bites by wild animals to urgently consult modern healthcare structures and to break with the use of traditional practitioners .

Dr. Ntawukuriryayo further indicates that the venom that these animals inject into the victim’s body causes serious infections. It is therefore advisable to see modern healthcare providers as soon as possible to stop the spread of infections and venom and treat them before they attack the rest of the body.

This statement comes after a lady from Busoni commune in Kirundo province spent more than two months at the Ngozi autonomous hospital receiving intensive care. Mrs. Mukashaka Libérate was bitten by a snake in her bed. She first consulted traditional healers who did nothing to help her.

It was after ten days that she went to the Busoni health center which, in turn, transferred her to Ngozi because the body had already been seriously infected.

At Ngozi hospital, Mrs. Mukashaka is forced to undergo a long treatment with the various consequences of hospitalization far from home, where she and her nurse only eat out of mercy from other patients. She is also afraid of the bill at a time when the family’s situation was precarious even before the accident.
