Bean production looks good according to the director of BPAEAE

BUBANZA April 18th (ABP) – The Director of the Provincial Office of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock (BPEAE), Emmanuel Ndikubaganwa calls on farmers in Bubanza province (north-west of Burundi) to regular monitoring and the good maintenance of their fields, especially those of beans which presage a good harvest, for the increase in production and the reduction in prices.

According to information from BPEAE Bubanza, beans have been grown on an area of 2,250 hectares throughout the province, and the expected production ranges between 1,800 and 4,050 tons, depending on the variety of beans that has been sown. Mr. Ndikubaganwa therefore asks the owners of those fields for regular monitoring and good maintenance, so that the fields are not devastated by fungal diseases.

As for the rice farmers, in full harvest in the plain of Imbo, the director of the BPEAE calls them to the resumption of transplanting. He reassures them that the irrigation water is sufficient and those even chemical fertilizers, in need and is already available, at more than 100%.

Note that the price per kilogram of rice has already been revised downwards, from 3500 Fbu to between 2800 and 3000 BIF.
