Official launch of the 3rd edition of the Miss Burundi 2023 contest

BUJUMBURA March 25th (ABP) – The Ministry of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism, in collaboration with Sultan Souleymane Entreprise (SS Entreprise) proceeded on Wednesday, March 22 in Bujumbura, to the official launch of the 3rd edition of the Miss Burundi 2023 competition, financed by the CRDB Bank.

The director general of tourism, Mr. Jacques Bigirimana, who had represented the Minister responsible for tourism at those se ceremonies, indicated that the Miss Burundi competition, organized for the 3rd time, is an opportunity for all economic operators in Burundi to promote their product and sell the image of Burundi through the beauty and intelligence of the Burundian girl.

According to him, the Miss Burundi 2023 contest will be a good opportunity to develop the innate potentials of young girls, their empowerment and investments while at the same time discouraging anti-model behaviors which are slowly ruining Burundian culture, customs and mores.

The director general of tourism invited the governors of the provinces and the vice-chancellors of the various universities of Burundi to get actively involved in raising awareness of young girls who meet the criteria to take part in such an important event. Parents must act beyond the prejudices and connotation attributed to the Miss Burundi competition and send their daughters to show their talents and the beauty of the Burundian girl, in order to represent other Burundians at the national and international level.

The legal representative of SS Entreprise, Mr. Sultan Souleymane Uwamahoro, indicated in his speech the selection criteria on which they will be based. He cited being a Burundian girl, having a national identity card, being able to speak Kirundi and French, being between the age of 18 and 25, not having a height of less than a 1m 65cm, not exceeding 65 kg, has not been married or doesn’t have children, having the criminal record extract and having completed high school.

Regarding the prizes, the winner of the competition will have a vehicle, 480 liters of fuel per year, insurance and maintenance of the vehicle, 500,000 BIF as a monthly salary, a year’s school fees. The 1st runner-up will have an envelope of 2,500,000 BIF, a year’s fees. The 2nd runner-up will receive an envelope of 2 million BIF and a year’s school fees and Miss Popularity will receive a budget of 1,500,000 BIF and a year’s school fees.

Regarding the calendar, he said that registration is from March 22 to April 25 and in three forms.
