BUJUMBURA March 22nd (ABP) – The first deputy president of the Burundian Senate, Mrs. Denise Ndadaye, joined on Saturday March 18 the people of Mugongomanga in Bujumbura province (western Burundi), in community development work which consisted in cleaning the gutter of the RN7 road, clogged by the landslide, where she called on them to abide by the law and to obey the leaders.

That clearing of the earth mixed with mud was attended by the provincial and communal authorities, both civil and military, the members of the provincial women’s forum, the soldiers and the police working in Mugongomanga commune.

Addressing the people, Mrs. Ndadaye thanked the soldiers and the police for their participation and their punctuality in that work. She called on the other categories of the population to follow in their footsteps and to love community work, a source of development of the countries, which last only two hours and which do not prevent participants from attending other activities afterwards. She recalled that community work has enabled Burundians to build schools, health centers, to draw the tracks and others.

According to her, no one will come to build Burundi except its people. To that end, she invited the latter to practice agriculture and livestock to increase production.

Shortly before, the governor of Mr. Désiré Nsengiyumva had indicated in his welcoming address that the administration urges the people to maintain the national road well by clearing the earth resulting from the landslide but, he said, people’s strength has limits. He took the opportunity to ask Mrs. Ndadaye to plead for the clogging of potholes on the RN7 and a machine to clear the earth from landslides.
