GITEGA February 8th (ABP) – The governor of Gitega province (center of the country), Mr. Venant Manirambona, hosted on Saturday February 4, 2023, at the Ingoma stadium, a public broadcast for journalists operating in that entity administration and the people, in order to answer their questions directed in all sectors of the life of that province, a check in Gitega by ABP has revealed.

The Governor of Gitega clarified on that occasion that this province is characterized by peace and security and that the people go about their development work, in order to improve the living conditions of their households, so that everyone has what to eat and money in their pocket, as the Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye, keeps repeating.

Governor Manirambona first indicated that the province of Gitega has just totaled four years being established as the political capital of Burundi. Thus, he asked all the people of the Gitega province in general and those of the city of Gitega in particular to change their mentality in order to be really city dwellers worthy of a political capital. For that reason, he pointed out that the population growth is currently a great challenge that haunts that province, hence, he called the population for family planning. He also asked people to always do hygiene and that, from now on, no one will be received by a communal or provincial authority in poor attire or without slippers.

During that broadcast, Governor Manirambona again warned traders who speculate and raise prices for certain products, particularly beer from the Brarudi factory as well as meat. The governor has already called on meat traders to respect the price set by the ministry in charge of the Interior, that is to say, 11,000 BIF for the kilo of boneless meat and 10,000 for the kilo of “Cangacanga” (meat with bones). He also indicated that the decision taken against traders of roasted maize, sweet potatoes and cooked cocoyams, remains in force to fight against the embezzlement of the harvest and thieves. It is worthy to know that this program ended with two final football matches. On the girls’ side, Gitega commune brutally defeated Bugendana commune with a score of 7 goals to 0. For boys, Itaba commune defeated Bukirasazi commune with a score of 1 to 0.
