CIBITOKE February 2nd (ABP) – The Minister of East African Community Affairs, Youth, Sports and Culture, Ezéchiel Nibigira, paid a working visit on January 31 to the headquarters of Murwi commune in Cibitoke province, to listen to and respond to the concerns of the administrative authorities and the people.

Minister Nibigira has been informing the population about that community and the place of Burundi for fifteen years. To achieve this and allow the Burundians to emerge, he called on the population to learn English, which is the most used language in the world. He urged officials to take advantage of Friday afternoon to learn English because, he said, many people no longer use that period of time to play sports.

Mr. Nibigira also took that opportunity to call on the population to give back the first place to the mother tongue, and recalled that even the government has taken the measure that all meetings are held in Kirundi. He said that even developed countries have reached that stage through their national languages. He also talked about sports and culture, stating that Burundi is becoming more and more competitive with better places. To continue in the same way, he said that now the competitions for the annual cup of the Head of the State will start with the villages, to promote the talents of the most remote localities.

Minister Nibigira also spoke in favor of the youth, to whom he reminded to work in cooperatives, for development projects eligible by the Youth Bank (BIJE) and the PAEEJ. The Minister also answered questions from participants, in particular those related to conflicts between EAC member countries, the decisions of the EAC Court, needs related to sports and culture, respect for copyright and others.
