BUJUMBURA August 26th (ABP) – The First Lady, Mrs. Angeline Ndayishimiye received in audience on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, in Bujumbura, the Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC), Mr. Mathuki Peter Mutuku.
In an interview granted to the media, the executive secretary of the Office of First Ladies for Development in Burundi (OPDD-Burundi), Mr. Jean Bosco Girukwishaka said that the two authorities discussed the organization of a forum, the first at EAC level. The latter, he added, will bring together the First Ladies and other women leaders in the region to jointly analyze the challenges that haunt the health sector, especially in terms of maternal and child health. They also looked at and the contribution to be made in terms of the development of women, the empowerment and well-being of young people.
According to Mr. Girukwishaka, the Secretary General of the EAC congratulated the First Lady of Burundi for the activities already carried out and in progress at the country level and encouraged her to extend those activities throughout the East African Community.
